Like you, I care about the future of San Diego's children, and I believe the future rests on making sure every child in every neighborhood has access to the high-quality education they deserve.
I am a committed parent and educator who grew up in District E. I have dedicated my life to the community and the educational welfare of our children. I am running for a seat on the San Diego Unified School Board because parents all over San Diego feel that the district is failing their children, and that is not acceptable. Over the past few years we have seen the school district shift its focus away from the needs of students. As a result, our schools are at a crossroad.
We can do right by our kids by putting people on the board who are honest, ethical and accountable. I will bring my experience as an educator, policy expert, and community representative to this role to effect change for our children and neighborhoods.
As a Trustee, I will:
- Hold frequent town hall meetings and open office hours to ensure parents and community members are included in the district’s decision-making process.
- Sign a Compact for Success agreement with San Diego State University so that the students of San Diego Unified School District who meet the academic requirements get guaranteed admission.
- Engage local businesses, labor unions, and community groups to provide apprenticeship and internship opportunities for students to better prepare them for a 21st century economy.
- Work to ensure that SDUSD provides culturally competent education from an early age that reflects the diversity of the families we serve.
I look forward to earning your support and your vote in the weeks and months ahead.
